Kalamazoo man faces OWI charges with BAC twice the legal limit

An early morning crash into a tree has left a Kalamazoo man behind bars for "super drunk" driving. At about 1 a.m. on Nov. 15, Van Buren County sheriffs responded to the accident in Antwerp Township, near Kalamazoo. The man, whose blood alcohol content (BAC) registered at 0.17 - more than twice the legal limit - is now facing a felony charge of operating while intoxicated (OWI) third offense.

Kalamazoo man arrested after hiding heroin in buttocks

Many people will go to great lengths to avoid being caught by the police. One Kalamazoo man did just that when police spotted a driver selling drugs from his vehicle. After police searched him and his three passengers, they found heroin hidden inside the buttocks of one of the passengers.

Marijuana charges pending in Michigan investigation

Michigan police have finished a three-week investigation of a drug trafficking operation, which apparently operated about 50 miles from Kalamazoo. The investigation began after officers were called to a residence regarding a complaint of people smoking marijuana.

Michigan firefighter facing rape charges

A local firefighter from Rockford - an hour outside Kalamazoo - is facing allegations that he raped a woman in her Brighton Township, Pennsylvania home. The man - recognized as his city's top firefighter last year - now faces felony charges of rape, aggravated assault and several misdemeanor sexual assault charges.
